LOVE. I feel like so many people are missing it now. Jesus was actually on this earth and showed us how to live. He loved hard, taught well, ate with sinners, and laid down his life so that we could be saved.
I don’t know about you, but sometimes I think about how I want to be remembered. I look at my life and think if I went to be with Jesus at this moment, what would people say about me? I want to live my life in such a way that it radiates the love of Jesus. Now trust me, I am NOT perfect. I still get mad when the line at the grocery store is too long and I still honk my horn when someone is driving dumb. I still have a attitude after a rough day at work and I still get mad at my husband when he leaves me a bunch of dishes to wash. We are all human, and as humans we will always fall short, it’s apart of our state of depravity. But thank God it doesn’t end there:
12 Therefore, as God’s chosen ones, holy and dearly loved, put on compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience, 13 bearing with one another and forgiving one another if anyone has a grievance against another. Just as the Lord has forgiven you, so you are also to forgive. 14 Above all, put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity. 15 And let the peace of Christ, to which you were also called in one body, rule your hearts. And be thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ dwell richly among you, in all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another through psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. – Colossians 3:12-17
Love first. The bible talks a lot on love, and it is crazy to me that SO many people are missing it. With all the different views and distortion of the bible these days, a lot of Christians are at war with one another and with the world. Let me say this really clear, it is not our jobs to judge the world. We use Godly judgement for all kinds of things, but we are not THE judge. Our job is to love them, point them to Jesus, and the Holy Spirit has it from there. A lot of people have it backwards. We need to point them to what the Bible says, disciple them, and pray for them. That is all we can do, after that the choice is theirs.
Jesus intended for us to be the salt and light of the earth, a shining light in the darkness and I can not think of a better way to do that than to shower people with love and kindness. Show them how wonderful our Savoir is by living a life basking in all the Lord has to offer. If you do this you will shine. When the Lord placed this on my heart I checked myself. I looked at all the areas in my life where I could do better, love people more, and live out my faith.
I hope this can encourage you to love more and see people through God’s eyes. I know it is hard, but when you soften your heart towards people, that’s when God uses you. Let’s wake up every day and be intentional, be kind, and love more!
